Josh grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota and currently resides in Champlin, Minnesota with his wife, Alexis, and two sons. Josh graduated from Osseo Senior High School in 1999 and studied Computer Science at the University of Minnesota-Duluth before moving home and earning his associates degree from North Hennepin Community College.
On November 2nd, 2015, after months of testing, Josh was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It wasn't something they were looking for, or even had symptoms of, so this was absolutely devastating news to receive for him and his family. Ten days later, he had surgery to remove his entire thyroid, 1 para-thyroid, and 67 lymph nodes in the left side of his neck; six of which tested positive for cancer cells. During his recovery, he was able to raise $3,381.00 for the Movember Foundation and felt the need to do more. In February, he went through radio iodine (radiation) treatment to clear any remaining cells. He was given the all clear in July of 2016.
Josh wanted to be able to fundraise and give to others the way he received during his recovery. His vision for the Fighters Foundation is his way to pay it forward and help those going through the same thing.
